The rather strong high pressure from China extends to the Northeast of Thailand and the South China Sea. It is expected cover to upper Thailand by today (21 January 2017). The strong northeast monsoon prevails across the Gulf and the South and outbreaks of heavy to torrential rains in following provinces: Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. During 22-25 January, provinces are Nakhon Si Thammarat, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. People should beware of severe conditions and possible flash flood. The northeast monsoon will gain more strength across the Gulf to force the South persistent rain spells. Heavy to torrential rains will be likely while during 20-21 January the winds become stronger with waves in the lower Gulf up to 2-3 meters high.
