Weather Warning "Cold Spells over Upper Thailand and Heavy to Very Heavy Rain in Lower South and Strong Wind Waves in Gulf"

The strong northeast monsoon prevails over the Gulf and Thailand. During 31 December 2016 to 3 January 2017, the low pressure over the lower South China Sea will cover the lower South of Thailand and Malaysia with more rain. Isolated severe rain is forecast for following provinces: Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. People should beware of the severe weather conditions and possible flash flood. The Andman shore will receive isolated heavy rain during 1-3 January 2017 mostly along provinces: Phangnga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Stun. The strong winds lead to waves high 2-4 meters in the Gulf. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats keep ashore. People should beware of inshore surge until 4 January 2017.
During 1-3 January 2017, the westerly trough will covers the upper portion of the North forcing thundershowers, possible hails and gusty winds. Affected areas are possible for Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Lamphun and Lampang.
Besides, the strong high pressure over the upper country affects outbreaks of cold spells likely with a slight decrease in temperature. Mountaintops of the North and the Northeast still have cold to very cold spells with minimum 3-8 °C. People should keep warm and stay safe due to the change of weather conditions.
