Weather Warning "Cold Spells over Upper Thailand and Heavy to Very Heavy Rain in Lower South and Strong Wind Waves in Gulf"

The strong northeast monsoon prevails over the Gulf of Thailand and the South. The low pressure over the lower South China Sea will cover the lower South of Thailand and Malaysia. Isolated severe rain is forecast for following provinces: Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, Narathiwat, Phangnga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Stun. People should beware of the severe weather conditions and possible flash flood.
The strong winds lead to waves high 2-4 meters in the Gulf. All ships should proceed with caution, and small boats keep ashore. People should beware of inshore surge until 4 January 2017.
The westerly trough from Myanmar will covers the upper portion of the North forcing thundershowers, possible hails and gusty winds. Affected areas are possible for Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Lamphun and Lampang while the high pressure over upper Thailand is weakening affects outbreaks of cool spells likely with a decrease in temperature 1-3 °C. Mountaintops of the North and the Northeast still have cold to very cold spells with minimum 3-8 °C. People should keep warm and stay safe due to the change of weather conditions.
