29 September 2025 - 05 October 2025The active monsoon trough lay across the northern and upper northeastern regions on the first day of the week. Additionally, the southwest monsoon which prevailed over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand was weakened since the middle of the week. Besides, the eastern and southeastern winds prevailed over the northeastern, eastern regions and the Gulf of Thailand during this period. These conditions brought rainfall across upper Thailand, particularly, abundant rainfall in the central and eastern regions almost the week with flooding reported in several areas. In the southern region, rainfall was observed throughout the week.
Meanwhile, Typhoon “BUALOI (2520)” made landfall in Quang Binh, upper Vietnam, and weakened into a severe tropical storm at 01:00 a.m. on 29 Sep. It then moved into Laos and further weakened into a tropical storm and tropical depression at 01:00 p.m. and 07:00 p.m. on the same day, respectively. Subsequently, it downgraded into an active low-pressure cell and moved to cover upper Myanmar and upper Laos on the following day. In addition, the severe tropical storm “MATMO (2521)” over the upper South China Sea reached Typhoon at the dawn of 5 Oct. and made landfall in the southern coast of Guangdong, China at the afternoon. After that, it moved into the Gulf of Tonkin at night on the same day.

Flooding occurred in Loei province from 29 Sep.–2 Oct., Maha Sarakham province from 28-29 Sep., Surin, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Nong Khai, Maha Sarakham and Nakhon Ratchasima provinces from 29 Sep.–1 Oct., Khon Kaen and Udon Thani province from 30 Sep. – 1 Oct., Chaiyaphum province from 3-5 Oct. and Ubon Ratchathani province on 5 Oct.
