Heavy to Very Heavy Rain in Thailand

On
9 September 2026, the high-pressure system from China
extend to upper Vietnam and upper Laos leading to the monsoon trough lies
across the North, the upper Central and the Northeast of Thailand into an active low-pressure cell over the middle South China Sea. Meanwhile, the
moderate southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, the South, the
Central, the East and the Gulf. Isolated heavy to very heavy rains are forecast
in Thailand especially in the North and the Northeast for the first period then
the rest regions.
After
that during 10-13 September 2026, the high-pressure system from
China will extend to the upper North and the upper Northeast of Thailand leading to the monsoon
trough will move down to lie across the lower Central, the lower Northeast and
the East into an active low-pressure cell over the middle South China Sea.
Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea the South and
the Gulf will strengthen. Continuous rainfalls and isolated heavy to very heavy
rains are forecast in the lower North, the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East and the South while
less rains are forecast in the North and the upper Northeast regions.
People
in should beware of heavy to very heavy rains and accumulation that may cause
flash floods, overflows and landslides especially along the waterways near
foothills and lowlands.
In
addition, during 11 – 13 September 2026, an active low-pressure cell over the
middle South China Sea is expected to intensify to tropical storm and will move
near the coast of upper Vietnam during
14 – 15 September 2026. Please stay tuned for the weather update.
