Subject: Severe Tropical Storm “TRAMI”
No.2 (235/2024)
At 07.00 p.m. LST (24 Oct 2024), the tropical storm “TRAMI” over the upper South China Sea was due at latitude 17.2 degrees north and longitude 119.8 degrees east. With maximum sustained winds about 85 km/hr. This storm was moving west at a speed of 7 km/hr. It is expected to move the middle coast of Vietnam during 26 – 28 Oct 2024. This storm does not move to Thailand but induce the strength of the westerly and southwesterly winds which flow to the center. Thundershowers will increase in the country with isolated heavy rains in the Northeast, the Central and the East in this period. After that, the storm will change direction and move to the upper South China Sea, the rains will decrease in the upper country.
The southwesterly wind which prevails across the Andaman Sea, the South and the Gulf will be strengthen during 26 – 29 Oct 2024. Heavy rains are likely to present in many places of the South with very heavy rains in some places. People in the areas should beware of heavy rains and accumulations that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands. The strengthen winds and waves in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf. The waves in the Andaman Sea are about 2 meters, 1-2 meters in the Gulf and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers.
