Storm “MAYSAK”

At 1.00 a.m. LST (03 July
2026), tropical depression over the middle South China Sea has intensified
to tropical storm “MAYSAK”. At 4.00 a.m., it was centered about 510 kilometers south
of Nanning, China or
at latitude 17.5
degrees north and longitude 108.6 degrees east with maximum sustained winds
about 65
km/hr. This storm is moving west with a speed of 20
km/hr. This storm is expected to move through Hainan Island
and make landfall over the South of China during 4 – 6 July 2026.
The effect of storm “MAYSAK” with the monsoon
trough lying across the North and the upper Northeast while the rather strong
southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf are
forecast to more rain and isolated heavy to very heavy rain especially in the
North, the upper Northeast, the East
and the South during 3 – 4 July 2026. After that, during 5 – 6 July 2026,
isolated heavy to very heavy rain remains in the upper North and the upper
Northeast.
The wind and the wave over the Andaman Sea
and the Gulf will strengthen. The wind and wave over the upper Andaman Sea is
likely 2-3 meters high and above 3 meters high in thundershowers moderate.
The wind and waves in the lower Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf are expected
about 2 meters high
and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with
caution and keep off thundershowers. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea
should keep ashore.
