Subject: Storm “WIPHA” and heavy to very heavy rain in Thailand
No.14 (200/2025)

At 01.00 a.m. LST (23 July 2025), the tropical storm “WIPHA” was downgraded to the tropical depression. At 04.00 a.m. was centered at Xiangkhouang province, Laos or at latitude 19.5 degrees north and longitude 103.0 degrees east (180 km. east of Nan, Thailand ) with maximum sustained winds about 55 km./hr. This storm is moving west-northwest with a speed of 25 km/hr., forecast to downgrade to an active low-pressure cell. It is likely to move along the monsoon through lying upper Laos and the upper North. Meanwhile the strong southwest monsoon prevails across the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf.
The effects of storm “WIPHA” are impacts of heavy to very heavy rain and strong wind in the North, the upper Northeast, western Central and the East during 23-24 July 2025. People in the country should beware of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.
Affected areas are as followings
23 July 2025
North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang,
Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit,
Sukhothai, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Udon Thani, Sakon
Nakhon and Nakhon Phanom.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Kanchanaburi and Ratchaburi.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan.

Northeast: Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Amnat Charoen and Ubon Ratchathani.
Central: Uthai Thani and Kanchanaburi.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Chanthaburi and Trat.
The rather strong wind forces the waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf up to 2-4 meters high and above 4 meters high in thundershowers. All ships in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, small boats in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf should keep ashore during this period.
