Subject: Summer Thunderstorm in the upper Thailand
(Effect during 27 April – 1 May 2025)

The moderate high-pressure system from China will extend to cover Vietnam and the South China Sea leading to the confluence of southeasterly and southwesterly winds prevail over the upper country where hot to very hot weather occurs while during 28 April - 1 May, the westerly trough from Myanmar will move pass the North and the upper Northeast and the upper of Central. Outbreaks of summer storms are possible following with thunderstorms, gusty wind, hail and isolated heavy rains including lightning strike in some areas.
Affected areas are as followings
On 27 April 2025
North: Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Tak, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Lopburi, Saraburi, Singburi, Angthong, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Suphan Buri, Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi,
Nakhon Pathom, Samut Sakhon and Samut Songkhram
including Bangkok and its vicinity.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chonburi, Rayong, Chanthaburi and Trat.
South: Phetchaburi and Prachuap Khiri Khan.
During 28 – 29 April 2025
North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao,
Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Tak, Phitsanulok,
Phichit, and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Nong Bua Lamphu, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Chaiyaphum, Khon Kaen, Kalasin, Mukdahan,
Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, Sisaket and Ubon Ratchathani.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat, Singburi, Ang Thong, Lopburi, Saraburi, Suphanburi, and Kanchanaburi.
During 30 April – 1 May 2025
North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao,
Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Phichit, Phetchabun, Kamphaeng Phet, and Tak.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Bua Lamphu, Chaiyaphum and Khon Kaen.
Central: Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Chainat and Lopburi.
People in the upper country should keep healthy due to changeable weather and beware of heavy rains and severe conditions by keeping off outdoor places, big trees and unsecured billboards. Avoiding travelling pass the recurring flooding areas. All transports take more caution during the phenomena. Farmers should prevent for crop damage and animals’ danger.
This advisory is in effect on 27 April 2025, at 5.00 p.m.
