Subject: Tropical Depression
and heavy to very heavy rain in Thailand
No.2 (205/2025)

At 10.00 p.m. LST (22 August 2025), tropical depression over the upper South China Sea was centered at latitude 17.5 degrees north and longitude 119.0 degrees east with maximum sustained winds about 55 km./hr. This storm is moving west-northwest with a speed of 30 km/hr. It is likely to intensify into a tropical storm. During 25-26 August, the storm is forecast to make landfall over upper Vietnam and upper Loas. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf will strengthen. More rain and isolated heavy to very heavy rain with strong winds in the North, the upper Northeast, the Central and the East including Bangkok and vicinity during 24–27 August. People in the country should beware of heavy to very heavy rain and accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.
The wind force waves in the upper Andaman Sea up to 2-3 meters high and above 3 meters high in thundershowers. All ships in the Andaman Sea should proceed with caution. Small boats in the upper Andaman Sea should keep ashore
