Subject: Tropical Storm “NONGFA”
and heavy to very heavy rain in Thailand
No. 8 (231/2025)

At 4.00 a.m. LST (31 August 2025), an active low-pressure cell covers Loei Province, Thailand. It is forecast to move through the monsoon trough that lie across over the North and the Northeast of Thailand by today (31 Aug).
This system will bring increased rainfall across Thailand from 31 August - 1 September with heavy to very heavy rainfall in many areas. The North and The Northeast regions will be affected by 31 August, especially in Udon Thani, Nong Bua Lamphu, Loei, Phetchabun, Phichit, Phitsanulok, Uttaradit, lower Nan, Phrae, Lampang, Sukhothai, Kamphaeng Phet, Lamphun, Chiang Mai, Tak, and Mae Hong Son. People in the country should beware of heavy to very heavy rain, strong wind and accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.
Affected areas are as followings

North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lamphun, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae,
Uttaradit, Sukhothai,
Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phichit, and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Nong Khai, Udon Thani,
Nong Bua Lamphu, Loei, Chaiyaphum, and Khon Kaen.
Central: Nakhon Sawan and Kanchanaburi.
East: Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri,
Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat.
South: Chumphon, Surat
Thani, Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket, and Krabi.

North: Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Lamphun, Lampang, Uttaradit, Sukhothai,
Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phichit, Phitsanulok, and Phetchabun.
Northeast: Loei, Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, and Ubon Ratchathani.
Central:
Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani,
Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi.
East: Nakhon
Nayok, Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao,
Chonburi, Rayong,
Chanthaburi, and Trat.
South: Prachuap Khiri Khan,
Chumphon, Surat Thani, Ranong, Phang Nga, Phuket, and Krabi.
The southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand will strengthen, leading to heavy rainfall in the eastern and western southern regions of Thailand. The rather strong wind forces the waves in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf up to 2-3 meters high and above 3 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, small boats in the upper Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf should keep ashore and people along the coast of the East and the upper South west coast should beware of storm surge during 31 August - 2 September.
