Tropical Storm “Soulik”

9 (201/2024)
At 7.00 a.m. LST (19
September 2024), the tropical depression
over the middle coast of Vietnam had develop to the tropical storm “Soulik” At
10.00 a.m. it was centered about 90 kilometers southeast of Quang Tri, Vietnam
or at latitude 17.4
degrees north and longitude 107.9 degrees east. With maximum sustained winds about 65 km./hr. This
storm was moving west at a speed of about 30 km./hr. It will make landfall over middle Vietnam on 19 September 2024. Isolated very heavy
rains with strong wind are possible in the North, the
Northeast, the Central including Bangkok and its vicinity, the East and the
South. People in the areas should beware of heavy to very heavy rains with
strong winds and accumulations that may cause flash flood and overflows,
especially along foothills near waterways and lowlands.

During
19-22 September 2024,
the strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, the South and the
Gulf. Isolated heavy to very heavy rains are likely in the South. The rather
strong wind forces the waves in the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf up to 2-4
meters high and above 4 meters high in thundershowers. In the
lower Gulf, the waves have about 2meters high
and above 2 meters high in thundershowers and offshore.
All
ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, small boats in
the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf keep ashore.
