Subject: Storm “MATMO”
No.6 (282/2025)

At 10.00 p.m. LST (4 October 2025), severe tropical storm “MATMO” over the upper South China Sea or at latitude 19.5 degrees north and longitude 113.4 degrees east with maximum sustained winds about 110 km/hr. This storm is moving west-northwest with a speed of 25 km/hr., expected to intensify and move pass Hainan, China into the Gulf of Tonkin and make landfall over upper Vietnam during 5–6 October 2025. Storm “MATMO” is forecast to downgrade rapidly due to the extending of the high-pressure system from China during 6–7 October 2025. This storm is not move to Thailand.
The storm “MATMO” effects to the southwest monsoon prevailing over the Andaman Sea, Thailand and the Gulf will strengthen. More rains are likely in the North and the Northeast while isolated heavy rains are possible in the North, the Northeast, the East and the South during 5-7 October 2025. People in the areas should beware of heavy rains and accumulation that may cause flash floods and overflows especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.
The moderate wind and waves in the upper Andaman Sea are expected 1-2 meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers.
