Weather Advisory
Subject: Heavy to Very Heavy Rain in the South and Strong Wind-Waves in the Gulf
No. 2 (2/2023)
From 5 to 8 January 2023, the active low-pressure cell over the lower South China Sea is expected to move near the coast of Tip of Indochina while the northeast monsoon prevailing over the Gulf and the South will strengthen. More rain and isolated heavy to very heavy rains are likely in the Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Pattani, Yala, and Narathiwat. People in the south should beware of severe condition that may cause flash flood and overflows, especially along the waterways near foothills and lowlands.
The strengthening wind force the waves up to 2 – 4 meters high in the Gulf and above 4 meters high in thundershowers. All ships should proceed with caution, keep off thundershowers and small boats in the Gulf should keep ashore. Residents along the coast beware of inshore surges.
The advisory is in effect on 4 January 2023, at 5.00 p.m.
This next issue will be at 5 December 2023, at 5.00 a.m.
