Tropical Storm “YAGI”

At 4.00
p.m. LST (6 September 2024), the typhoon
“YAGI” over the upper South China Sea was due 20 km. east of Hainan, China or at
latitude 19.8
degrees north and longitude 111.0 degrees
east. With maximum sustained winds about 185 km/hr.
This storm was moving northwestward at speed of 15 km./hr. This storm is forecast to move through Hainan, China and
it will make landfall over upper Vietnam by tomorrow (7
September 2024). Isolated heavy
to very heavy rains are likely in the North and the upper Northeast during 7-8
September 2024.
The
rather strong southwest monsoon prevails over the Andaman Sea, the South and
the Gulf. Isolated heavy rains are likely in the country while isolated very
heavy rains are possible in the east and the South (west coast). People in the
areas should beware of heavy to very heavy rains and accumulations that may
cause flash flood and overflows, especially along foothills near waterways and
lowlands. The rather strong wind force the waves in the Andaman Sea and the
upper Gulf are likely 2-3 meters high and above3
meters high in thundershowers. In the lower Gulf, the waves have 1-2
meters high and above 2 meters high in thundershowers and offshore. All
ships should proceed with caution and keep off thundershowers, small boats in
the Andaman Sea and the upper Gulf keep ashore lasting 8 September 2024.
